Stop and Listen

From Experiencing God:
“Prayer is not designed to change God, it is designed to change us. Prayer takes us into God’s presence, shows us His will, and prepares us to obey Him.”

What area of our lives is God speaking to us about? Are we willing and disciplined enough to spend time with Him so we can hear Him and so He can reveal our blind spots. Or do our spiritual lives and lives more resemble blindfolded children swinging at a backyard piñata. Living busy impacts our ability to see the God's target and our blind spots do not allow God to maximize our strengths and gifts. We swing in our weakness at life's pinata. Ask God to reveal your blind spots today.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Yesterday I took off my blindfold while meeting with a mentor. I had been so busy doing ministry and life that our last meeting was 8 months ago. After meeting for a while he asked me “So what is going to change?” Emotion struck me as I came to the cross roads of understanding how busy my life was compared to my personal spiritual development. We sat in his State Farm office quietly as I wept and sincerely asked for his forgiveness. Because I was intentional to slow life down God spoke to me about my busyness. Goodbye piñata.

I pray we will stop all traffic today for even a few minutes and talk to God. If you do not have a “Paul” in your life ask God to raise someone up. God does not need stagnant leaders. Sharpen your saw with prayer today.

God bless you today as you grapple with your blind spots and courageously walk deeper with Him.

Make it a great day!
