Our House shall be called a House of ......

I recently listened to Pastor Cymbala's 1994 message "My house shall be called a house a prayer." It is as much for today as it was then. During the message he mentions, you ever notice how difficult it is for people to come to a prayer meeting. Jesus threw the folks out of the temple because they had made a mockery of the temple by selling their goods stating my Father's house will be called a house of prayer.

So often today we (the church) fill our schedules with programs and our services with perfectly orchestrated agenda's that stifle the Spirit of God. My House and my ministry have been guilty of this. I have been so busy serving God that I have not followed Jesus instruction regarding a House of prayer. Two weeks ago we committed that Delmarva FCA would be a ministry of prayer.

On Friday night we hosted a Prayer Meeting at a local church. I sent an invitation to over 750 people on our email list. Three of us gathered to be with the Lord. It was powerful and God showed up in a mighty way. Tears were shed through transparently sharing with each other. We confessed our struggles with each other and poured our hearts out to God. We prayed for the local school district.

We are making progress in our home but Melissa and I desire our home to be a more consistent with prayer. I have become characterized by airmail prayer. I often ride in my car with music off and pray as the Spirit prompts me. However, I need more intentional prayer time "on my face" in intercession.

The book of Acts gives us great examples of prayer meetings preceding God moving. We are planning to host 52 prayer meetings next year in different churches. The Brooklyn Tabernacle has a Prayer meeting every Tuesday and from what I hear over 1,000 people attend. It is not about numbers but I believe God wants our areas to host prayer meetings as well. What will God do when we meet faithfully to boldly present our requests at His throne?

Make it a great night!
