Darkness To Light

My wife and I began a journey about two years ago to understand the strongholds that existed in our lives. God has given us revelation and freedom regarding many things that have held us captive even after coming to faith in Christ. We are grateful for the freedom in Christ journey.
The enemy loves to hold us captive and his agenda is to kill, rob and destroy. Today, many student athletes and leaders are immersed in a pornographic lifestyle. The mournful part of this statement is that Christian competitors and leaders are no exception to this strategy of Satan. At camp this summer countless kids confessed pornographic activity during an altar call.
This idol worship leads to other things such as self gratification, and fornication but only God can satisfy. In our leadership studies and athlete studies we understand that God wants us to bring darkness into the light to us set free. In a recent study, we discussed (self gratification) and pornography. The folks in the study were contrite and mournful over their seeking self pleasure and immorality.
One of the common threads was that the enemy isolates us to believe that we are the only one who has sin issues. Just like you see on the Discovery channel when the lion waits for a weak link and devours his prey. The lion prowls around waiting for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8-9). I heard Keith Elias (former NY Giant) say this summer, "David killed the lion and bear first before defeating Goliath."
So many times we fall into the SCS cycle (sin, confess, sin). This is one of the enemy's greatest lies. God wants us to repent of our sin that is holding us captive and accept His forgiveness & restoration. Acts 3:19 states" Repent then, that your sins might be wiped out and that times of refreshing might come from the Lord."
Guilt, fear and shame often accompany these situations. However, God is not a God of guilt, shame or fear. He is a God of power , love and self discipline (2 Tim 1:7). The journey of leadership is dark and messy. God is inviting us to wash our cup from the inside out. God brings a sunrise to your soul & heart in the heavenlies like the attached picture as our darkness comes to light.
Make it a great night!

What is our lion?
Where do we stand in our pursuit of holiness and sexual purity?
Do we have any pornographic (or unholy) habits?
What does God think about this area of our life?
