Coach vs Cancer

Wanted to share a great cause with you from a brother in Christ! Coach James Kiger is the Head Varsity Girl's Coach at Smyrna High School. Please pray about supporting Coach's effort.

Hi Everyone,

This year we are excited to announce a way to make an impact for both Cancer research and our Basketball team. We are holding our first annual Swish-out Cancer Shoot-athon on Saturday, January 16, 2010 from 11 am – 1 pm.

For the money we are able to raise; half will go to the American Cancer Society and half toward offsetting the cost of an end of season banquet for our team.

For our coaching staff, Cancer research is a very important topic. Coach Kiger, at age 11, lost his father to cancer. Coach Markiewicz lost her mom to cancer during basketball season of her senior year along with an aunt and uncle within a span of 18 months. Coach Moran lost her grandfather to cancer. I know many of you have relatives and friends whom you have lost to this deadly disease.

Our “Swoosh Out Cancer” Shoot-athon works like this: Each girl, coach or Manager will shoot 100 free throws. For every shot made we are securing sponsors to donate an amount for each shot made or a flat rate donation. All donations are tax-deductable.

My girls don’t think I can shoot or raise the money and I want to prove them wrong. If you haven’t already sponsored one of my players would you be willing to sponsor me either an amount per shot (ie. $0.25, $0.30, $0.50) or a flat rate that goes to this worthy cause?

I must warn you I am a very good free throw shooter!!!!!

Thanks so much for anything you can do. If you can sponsor me, just shoot me an email back! If not, no problem, thanks for your support!

All Checks payable to: SHS Athletic Boosters

Thank you for your consideration!
