Scripture is very clear "All men sin and fall short of the glory of God." The Bible does not say some men but ALL men sin and fall short. Red Sox Nation is probably responding to today's news in a number of ways but hopefully some will see the spiritual lining in the David Ortiz story.
Three thoughts come to mind:
One. We will never be satisfied in our performance or the things we do. Only God can satisfy us completely. We can chase substances, performance enhancers, results and records but we do not bring them with us on judgement day. There we will give an account for our lives and only the things done for the Kingdom will count.
Two. Society will point fingers at David Ortiz and persecute him. We fail to look at our own brokenness when someone else falls. The infaillable Word of God says "what good is it to point out the speck of saw dust in your eye when I have a plank in my own eye."
Three. I believe Big Papi has professed to be a follower of Christ. Therefore, he will also drum a bad tune for Christians. However, Christians are not exempt from "ALL" men. Before you point out the sin in # 34's life take a look at the sin in your own camp. And remember "God works for the good of those that love him."
Make it a great night!
