"Let's face it, no matter how long you're around, you never have it all figured out," Coach Pelini said Tuesday. "Everybody has a different perspective, another set of eyes. The more input you take, the more you can learn, the better you become."
Great word from Nebraska Football Coach Pelini regarding Tom Osbourne. Mentoring is a needed component in the development of a leader and life long learning. The beautiful "silver lining" in this situation is that Coach Osbourne is a "Follower of The Leader (Jesus)."
I am thankful for several mentors who speak into my life. Our years in the Hunt Valley Maryland MBNA office allowed us the blessing of being a part of an outstanding leadership development ministry led by Pastor Brian at Living Word Community Church in York PA. I look back on God placing LWCC's Leading Edge in our path as one of the greatest blessings in my ongoing development as a leader and follower of Jesus. Thank you Pastor Brian for your continuing leadership legacy in my life and overflowing into the lives if others.
My commitment to seeking mentoring relationships started with John Hilliard (and continues today) through this ministry. John loves me patiently, guides me wisely, listens intently, challenges me gracefully, points me to my heart, criticizes constructively and speaks greatness into my life. It is my prayer that all of us would allow mentors access into our lives and hearts.
Someone once said "It is what you learn after you know it all that counts." May we ask God to provide mentors for our lives, give them access to our hearts and may we embrace life long learning.
Make it a great night!
Coach Chambers
