James Kiger is the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach and Director of Guidance at Smyrna High School, Smyrna Delaware. He is in his 18th season of coaching and has coached at the small college, high school varsity/junior varsity and middle school levels with both boys and girls. Along with his duties within education, James has followed his calling to share the powerful message of the Gospel for over 26 years.

After experiencing the barren-ness of self-effort (trying to do things to please God) he was brought to the end of himself and discovered the freedom of exchanging his life for Christ’s life. His newfound passion for understanding the heart of the father and his identity in Christ has impacted his coaching, his living and his journey in a powerful way.

James is the author of the book “The Spark: Overcome Burnout and Reclaim Your Passion for Teaching” and speaks often in both educational and church settings. James and his wife, Anita, have been entrusted with Restoration Life Ministries, a teaching ministry declaring the good news of freedom and life in Christ. They are the parents of five children, one son-in-law and two grandchildren.
